Take power into our own hands. “Every home a power station” is the infectious call at the heart of artist-activists Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn’s project to power their street with solar energy one home at a time – inspired by mutual aid networks that flourished during lockdown. Power Station is a warm, humorous, and moving portrait of Powell and Edelstyn’s quest to build community power: which is not just about buying solar panels, but reaffirming a collective belief that a different world is possible. As they knock on neighbours’ doors, harness their creativity to raise funds, and persevere through financial and logistical setbacks, what they find is hard to resist: proof that all the power we need is right here, in the people around us.
