Griffin, the new Executive Director and CEO of the Maryland Aviation Administration — the powerhouse behind Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Martin State Airport, and Maryland’s regional aviation programs. Appointed to the role in April 2025, Shannetta is already making her mark as a bold and visionary leader for Maryland’s aviation future.
With more than 40 years of experience in aviation, aerospace, and transportation, Shannetta has literally helped shape how we move. Before joining MAA, she served as the FAA’s Associate Administrator of Airports, leading a nationwide team that supported more than 3,300 public-use airports across the country. She’s also held leadership roles at the Indianapolis and Columbus airport authorities, where she drove record-breaking growth, billion-dollar development projects, and major innovation in air travel.
Known for her dynamic leadership and passion for progress, Shannetta has earned national recognition for her work — and her story is one of inspiration, innovation, and impact.
