About this Event

Procedures for domestic violence cases include jurisdictional issues between tribal and state courts, full faith and credit issues, waiver of jurisdiction, transferring venue, Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), enforcement issues, and steps of a domestic violence matter in tribal courts. The event will close with a policy discussion.

Speakers will include Professor Danielle Finn (Director of the Indian Nations Gaming & Governance Program), the Honorable Kostan R. Lathouris (Chief Judge of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribal Court), and Patrick Hirsch (Attorney with the Children’s Attorneys Project).

The Pro Bono Project will present the course online via GoTo Meeting and in-person in the Engelstad Family Classroom at Legal Aid Center.
