N EW APPLICANTS:
- If you have not yet applied and are planning on applying for Instructional Assistant I/II- Special Education, Behavioral Intervention Instructional Assistant, or Program Aide ASES, please plan to arrive at 9:00am (no later than 11am) to allow ample time for application, testing, and interview. You will need to take our Paraeducator Multiple Choice Exam (90 minutes). However, if you have passed the CBEST, have an Associate's degree or higher, have completed at least two years of study in an institution of higher education, or have taken the paraeducator multiple choice exam at the Poway Unified School District, you do not have to take this test.***In order to skip this testing component, please bring an unofficial copy of your transcripts, degree awarded or CBEST results with you***
- If you are planning on applying/interviewing for Program Aide- ESS, Food & Nutrition I, or Noon Duty we recommend arriving at 9:30am as interviews begin at 10:15am and there is no testing component to these applications.
- For same day applications, please allow a few hours for assessment/processing.

Position Descriptions:
Instructional Assistant I for Special Education (Step 1: $18.25/hour): Provide instructional support and assistance to teachers and students assigned to a designated special education instructional program or other non-critical care instructional program.
Instructional Assistant II for Special Education (Step 1: $19.18/hour): Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individuals or groups of students in an assigned critical skills special education program. Monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; perform a variety of clerical and supportive duties related to classroom activities.
Behavioral Intervention Instructional Assistant (Step 1: $21.16/hour): Provide intensive behavioral intervention instruction; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; perform a variety of clerical and supportive duties related to tutoring and instructional activities.
Program Aide- ESS (Step 1: $16.96/hour): Assist in the overall activities of elementary-aged students in an Extended Student Services (ESS) program; assist in planning and designing activities; supervise students in classroom and outdoor activities.
Program Aide- ASES (Step1: $16.96/hour): Assist in the overall activities of middle school-aged students in an After School Education & Safety (ASES) program; assist in planning, designing, and leading activities; supervise students in classroom, gym and outdoor activities.
Food & Nutrition I (Step1: $17.38/hour): Assist in quantity preparation, packaging and serving of foods at an assigned school site; assist in maintaining nutrition centers, equipment and utensils in a clean, safe and sanitary condition; assist in the set up of serving areas; and perform cashiering and recordkeeping duties.
Noon Duty (Step 1: $16.54/hour): Assists in maintaining a safe and orderly environment, discipline, and student control during non-instructional periods; and performs related work as required.
