About this Event

In addition to my role as Executive Director of One Body Collaboratives and Founder of Bridges to Prosperity Rockford Region, I also serve as a National Consultant with the Aha! Process. Building on my 22 years of combined experience in community development, economic development, and poverty reduction, I have created a Workshop that the Aha! Process will be offering nationally titled, "Poverty Reduction For Community & Economic Development."

The Workshop is ready to be launched to Pilot audiences in Mexico, MO and Wichita, KS in June; but I am piloting it in my own local community first! I would appreciate your time in attending the 2 hour Workshop to provide feedback, and hopefully some take-aways as well!

The Workshop will be marketed nationally to Key Community & Economic Development Professionals including, but not limited to: Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Organizations, Business Associations, Labor Leaders, Workforce Development Organizations, Public-Private Partnerships, Community Nonprofits, Local/State/Federal Government, Educational Institutions, Businesses, Entrepreneurs, Developers, Philanthropic Organizations, Utilities/Special Authorities, Neighborhood Groups

A Brief Overview:

According to the International Economic Development Council, Economic Development is the practice of improving a community’s economic well-being and quality of life. It is a collaborative effort involving industry, government and myriad community stakeholders focused on improving a community’s competitiveness. So, for communities concerned about their poverty rates, how do you reach your development goals?

As you think about each of the goals of development: create high-quality jobs, develop vibrant communities and improve quality of life, if your community does not have the resources to reduce poverty it makes development that much more challenging.

Poverty Reduction as an Economic Development Strategy looks deeper into this and more, including:
• The role of Community & Economic Development in Poverty Reduction
• Understanding the Causes of Poverty
• Where Community Development and Poverty Intersect
• How a Community Create Upward Mobility for all

The event will be held in the Community Room inside the Goodwill located at 3068 McFarland Road.

Please note this is by invitation only, as it is your insight and feedback that I am specifically seeking. I appreciate your consideration of attending this Workshop!
