About this Event
Dates: Mondays, October 28th - December 2nd
Time: 6 pm - 9 pm
Meet on Monday evenings 6 - 9 pm with expert instructor, Brian Smith, for six weeks of throwing on the potter's wheel! Choose two open studio times to practice (no instruction, however, there are studio assistants available for questions). This class is for all levels of potters, concentrating on throwing. Basics of throwing will be covered before moving on to throwing large pieces, making altered forms, and other ideas suggested by students.
One 25lb bag of stoneware clay is included as well as firings for pieces made from your first bag of clay, studio glazes, and tools. Alternative clay, personal tool kits, and assorted glazes are available for purchase at All Hands Pottery Studio. Guidance for firing pieces will be provided – added dimensions of any one piece are not to exceed 24” to conserve and maximize kiln space (example: height 4”, width 8”, length 12” = 24”). Additional pieces may be fired at a fee.
A little about Brian Smith: "I started throwing at a young age and learned from many different talented artists over the years. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques and a variety of media. Many of my pieces are inspired by glass blowing and woodworking. I'm excited to answer any questions and share my techniques in this course."
