PREREQUISITE: Students must be able to adequately center clay and form various pottery shapes and sizes on the wheel. There is a well worn cliché suggesting that potters make the only art that we put into our mouths. With this in mind, we will focus on the important elements of the handle, handle placement, drinking lip, shape, size, weight, etc. which will compose a successful ceramic object that receives such frequent and intimate use. We will then increase our working scale and apply what we have learned towards making jugs, or pitchers as they are known in the United States. But pitchers doesn’t rhyme and therefore doesn’t make as catchy of a class title.
All firings, glazes and 25 pounds of clay are included.
