Join ceramic artist Helen McComick for a full day of creativity as you make your very own pottery Highland Cow. With their characterful expressions and distinctive shaggy coats, Highland Cows are a joy to recreate in clay. Helen will guide you step by step through the hand-building process, from forming the basic shape to adding those all-important details that bring your cow to life.In the morning, you’ll learn traditional hand-building techniques to build the body and structure of your cow. In the afternoon, you’ll focus on adding features, textures and personality.
This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with some pottery experience. All materials and equipment are provided – just bring an apron or wear old clothes, and please trim any long nails beforehand. After the workshop, Helen will carefully take your Highland Cow home to fire in her kiln. Your finished creation will be ready to collect from the Brewhouse approximately 6 weeks later, depending on drying time. We’ll let you know when it’s ready.
Please feel free to bring along a packed lunch to enjoy in your lunch break, tea and coffee will be available in the workshop room.
