The Potomac Playmakers proudly announce auditions for the 2024 One-Act Play Festival! Featuring three original plays submitted as part of the 2023-2024 One-Act Playwriting Competition, the Festival will include the following – “Indigent” by F. J. Hartland – Featuring one female and two male performers, this play tells the stories of six impoverished people, their lives, and the circumstances that lead each of them to their deaths and burials in the “pauper’s field” cemetery for the poor and unknown.
“From Birth” by Don Narkevic – Featuring two female performers and one male performer, in this comedy with a heart, two babies in the womb discover they are twin brother and sister, but their discoveries about each other and life go beyond the obvious as they head toward their due date.
“Mick and Ernie Go To Therapy” by Mike Byham – Featuring two male performers and one female performer, this hilarious British-style comedy tells the story of two thieves who had just completed a job in North London. Trying to hide from the police, the two thieves run into an office and are confronted by a therapist who believes the two are there for couple’s counseling. What follows is a hilarious examination of the relationship between the two thieves under the specter of arrest!
Auditions for the One-Act Play Festival are scheduled for May 6 and May 7, 2024 at 7:00 p.m., and will take place at The Potomac Playmakers Performing Arts Center, located at 17303 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740. Auditions will consist of cold reads from the scripts. The Potomac Playmakers’ 2024 One-Act Play Festival will take place on July 26 & 27, 2024.
