About this Event
A potion is a consumable liquid infused with magical properties. They can be concoctions used to heal, bewitch or poison people, made by a witch or other magical practitioner. Popular examples include preparations for attracting love, or inducing a deep sleep. Women who were accused of witchcraft were often knowledgable of local plants that they used to cure illness, remove curses and attract desired effects including love, protection and prosperity. The healing properties of these plants were believed to be magical at the time as well as the rituals and incantations used to protect the preparer during medicine / potion making. Potion making class will cover basics of preparation methods, casting a protective circle for medicine making, and participants will work together to brew potions such as Four Thieves which was believed to protect from the plague!
