Direct BRD techniques in posterior teeth constitute the daily bread of most dental practice. There is no “one size fits all” but a range of applications when it comes to direct composite resin restorations. This module not only provides all the armamentarium, scientific and clinical foundations to optimal resin-bonding and management of resin shrinkage stress but also the methods for natural layering, esthetic and functional outcomes.
Lectures will start with a short review of the fundamentals of posterior tooth biomechanics and morphology (including realistic tooth drawing). A thorough description of the instruments and step-by-step recipes, including visual aids will be complemented by a deep dive into caries removal techniques, bonding strategies, composite placement techniques.
This will not only allow the operator to cover all indication needs of a biomimetic private practice but also reveal the deep satisfaction of producing an “invisible” and very natural looking restoration. After the hands-on, each participant should master the restoration of small, medium and large class 1 and 2 restorations using various approaches including sandwich techniques and the use of short-fiber reinforced composite (SFRC) resins. The course will conclude with the theory and practice of the deep margin elevation technique (DME), an essential tool to save hopeless teeth with very deep caries.
Who should attend: New and experienced dentists and extended function dental assistants.
