The Neighbourhood Project CIC is carrying out research into the history of Tong Street. We are looking to talk to people who have lived, worked, volunteered, owned a property or business, or had some other connection with the area or nearby, or who are familiar with it for some other reason. We are especially interested in people who lived in or close by Tong Street soon after the Second World War as we wish to capture people’s memories of this period, what it was like to live there, how it changed and any interesting facts or stories. These memories will provide us with material for a short video about Tong Street we hope to produce before the end of the year.
With kind support from Habinteg Housing Association and the Community Shop on Tong Street, we are running a ‘memory bank’ event at the Community Shop, Unit C Tong Street, Weaverthorpe Road, Bradford, BD4 9RQ, on on Thursday 30th October 2025, 10am to 12pm. This will be an informal discussion and give people an opportunity to reminisce about Tong Street and share their stories. People’s contributions will be anonymous unless they give us permission to name them. We will provide light refreshments.
