Post Abortion Support Event

We are excited to host our first ever Post-Abortion Support event thanks to the Vancouver Foundation Neighbourhood Small Grant we received!

We will be gathering informally in a private, pro-choice setting. We have activities such as felting and bouquet arranging. You are welcome to listen, share, or just enjoy some creative, relaxing time. This event is peer run, we are not providing clinical counselling.

WHEN: April 26th, 2025 from 2-5pm

WHERE: The Ministry of Casual Living. 750 Fairfield Rd. Please ring the bell upon arrival and you will be welcomed inside. The accessible entrance is to the right of the main entrance on the east side of the building. There is street parking on surrounding streets, and the #7 bus stops directly in front of the building.

WHO: This event is open to anyone who is post- abortion. It doesn't matter if it was very recent or in the distant past, you are welcome to attend.

WHAT: We have been graciously provided a private room by the Ministry of Casual Living. Members of our collective will be hosting a pro-choice event that includes creative and hands-on activities you can take home such as felt art, dried-bouquet arranging, and room sprays. You are welcome to share, debrief, and explore your experience with abortion. There is no obligation to disclose or share, simply enjoying the space or connecting with resources is welcome as well. We will have snacks, tea, coffee, and water. Washrooms are accessible upstairs via elevator. If you would like to set aside 1:1 time with a member of our collective for peer support, debriefing, and connection to resources we are holding this between 4 and 5pm. Please register in one of the two time slots under "tickets".

Childcare: The private room where the event and activities are held will remain childfree. We will be providing childcare just down the hall from the event. We will have snacks, drinks, and a variety of age-appropriate activities. Children will remain inside the whole time. Attendees are welcome to come and go from the event to the childcare area as they wish. While registering for this event is not mandatory to attend we do ask that you register in the “add-ons" section if you require childcare, and email us the following info to [email protected]: name, age, allergies, accommodations needed, and emergency contact for the child.

Registering is encouraged but not mandatory, you will not need a ticket to attend. This is a drop-in event, feel free to attend for as little or as long as you like! Any questions or comments can be sent to our email [email protected].

SAFETY: The building is secure and locked, all attendees will be welcomed into the space after ringing the doorbell. A staff member of the Ministry of Casual Living will be present throughout the event. There is 0 tolerance for any anti-abortion rhetoric, hate speech, harassment, or violence. Behaviour of this kind will result in being removed immediately.
