Bom Dia! Good day in Portuguese is the start of all conversations in Portugal. The amiable people here smile, nod, and greet everyone they come in contact with.
As we do on all of the Om Sunshine Yoga Retreats and Adventures, we are avoiding the busiest tourist destinations and introducing you to the beauty of nature and local culture. Our time in Portugal will be spent in the Cascais region south of Lisbon. This seaside community is where Portuguese people go for holiday. The weather, beaches, hikes, food, and locals will feed your soul and possibly inspire you to spend more time here in the future.
Spain! Almost every traveler's bucket list item. You can’t go wrong in a place that perfected the Tapas small plate eating culture. Early evenings are an event in Spanish towns. Where locals and visitors gather over drinks and food to unwind and socialize. We can’t forget about the history in the south of Spain though. A culture that began with the Phoenicians in 70 BC has had numerous influences in almost 3,000 years and will show you some of the highlights. That includes the stunning architecture of the Alahambra and El Caminito del Ray, (the King’s Little Walkway), an aerial trail built in the walls of the Gaitanes gorge.
For this portion of the trip, we sought out lodging with a yoga shala for our daily practice. This beautiful space will be our yoga home base for a few days. The place we come home to at night after hiking, exploring, learning, eating, and loving!
Finally, all Om Sunshine Yoga retreats have a water feature or several. Our grand finale will be a catamaran cruise in the Mediterranean Sea! We always end on an extra high note.
Woven into each day's adventure will be yoga and meditation. What good is a bucket list vacation if you don’t take the time to pause and sit in the moment, absorbing the wonders that surround you?
