About this Event
This is a conference for all those who work with adults at risk in Portsmouth including those in primary and secondary care, higher education, emergency services, criminal justice, adult social care, mental health services, housing and the voluntary sector.
The conference will weave together ideas, theories, frameworks and models alongside practical tools and messages for practitioners, addressing two service user groups - adults who use alcohol and women who survive domestic abuse.
Portsmouth Priority Crime Team will also be focussing on perpetrators of abuse and the management of harm from habitual knife carriers, and youth offenders.
Conference speakers will explore central themes of:
- legal literacy
- the impact of trauma, and
- the contributions of different professions and sectors.
Throughout the day conference participants will be encouraged to engage with as many people as possible to explore ideas especially across professional boundaries and to exercise curiosity about each person’s experience of safeguarding adults at risk. We want to encourage multiple conversations and sharing.
