Continuing with our monthly rotation of art shows in the front room, we are pleased to announce “Portraits of Writers” by artist Jay Mason! These will be a series of paintings on display in the front room through mid January! Artist statement :
For several years I have been fascinated by the work of local graffiti artist here in Seattle. The Pacific Northwest breeds a talented community of Writers whose artistry and culture has changed the local urban landscape into a vast palette of color and letters that gives life to the cement city. As I began to make paintings of these landscapes, I found that the writers works were a self portrait in a sense. Their letters, their tag. I would go back to a wall and something new would be done and something else was covered. An organic ebb and flow of ever evolving work. This show pays tribute to the writers of Seattle.
