The Missouri Historical Society (MHS) is commissioning a portrait of Harriet Scott to stand alongside the century-old, internationally recognized portrait of Dred Scott at the Missouri History Museum, where visitors will see them side by side for the first time. The Missouri Historical Society seeks an artist with portraiture experience to create an original portrait of Harriet Scott to be featured at the Missouri History Museum in 2028. Work is to occur from January 5, 2026, to May 3, 2027. All proposals submitted for consideration must be received by the submission deadline: August 29, 2025.
