About this Event
In an age where urban life is so often filtered through small screens - images designed to provoke quick reactions and capture fleeting attention - it’s easy to lose sight of the deeper beauty and complexity of our shared spaces. This constant stream can act like an invisible barrier, reinforcing a sense of pessimism or disconnection, distorting how we see our cities and each other.
“Portrait of a Landscape”, is an exhibition by local artist, Mark Naismith-Beeley to be held at the Parliament of NSW during the month of February 2026.
In this exhibition, the artist invites viewers to take a step back, put away their phones, and experience Sydney’s urban environment with fresh eyes. As a modern impressionist painter, Mark uses expressive brushwork and a focus on light and colour to capture not just the look, but the mood and spirit of the city. Mark's paintings offer generous yet frank depictions of familiar places, often marked by subtle hints of time and community.
He invites you to come and share in the experience of reconnecting with the everyday landscape with renewed optimism.
Unless otherwise marked, all works are available for sale at the artist's website.
