HEARTLAND FOREST OUTINGStart time 6 pm – but if you can’t make it for 6, just come when you can. Meet at the entrance to the trails. Please check in. So that we can be sure everyone is out by 8:00 pm (we have special permission to stay until then).
Heartland Forest is a peaceful, accessible and inclusive place to enjoy nature, with easy access trails meandering through grasslands, wetlands and forest. And there is also a pond right by the parking lot in case you don’t want to walk too far.
Heartland Forest is a jewel of Carolinian Forest surrounded by development. On the trails look out for interesting carvings and birdhouses, wildlife, fungi and the beginnings of autumn colours. In the ponds and bushes, check for turtles, frogs, dragonflies and bees. Even monarchs have been sighted.
After the visit, we will be asking for photos to send to the Forest administrators to use for promotion purposes, so bear this in mind as you plan your shots. Thanks!
