Training on how to conduct Porosity and Density measurements of porous media
About this Event

THIS IS A FACE TO FACE WORKSHOP. DO NOT REGISTER IF YOU ARE NOT IN ADELAIDE.

Instructor: Ben Cazzolato [email protected]

This training will use the Mecanum PHI porosity and density meter - a special pycnometer specifically designed to obtain reliable measurements of the open porosity and true bulk density of open cell porous materials used in noise control.

The system is loosely based on the principle in ISO 4590 (air pycnometer, i.e. application of the Boyle-Mariotte law), but provides a more accurate measurement for very high porosity materials used in acoustics (φ is usually greater than 0.70).

The following link provides the basis of the measurement technique: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/252612753_Pressuremass_method_to_measure_open_porosity_of_porous_solids
