Meet us at Poplar Lane Park for an Earth Day Bio Blitz! ACORN member and the public are invited! E. O. Wilson made famous the fun, easy, and rewarding biology project known as the Bio Blitz. We will chart any species found at the Poplar Park riverfront, be it plant, animal, or other! The compilation of species can be used for science projects, nature journaling, or just introspection on our natural world. Bring a camera/phone and a sketchbook if you like.
Poplar Park is varied in terrain, with level grassy areas, sandy, sloping beaches with rocks and debris, and immediate access to the river itself. Please use caution and consider water safety for young children or those with support needs around water.
Open walled shelters and picnic tables are available, and a small toilet facility is open. It can be more windy than typical along the river.
Reminder! We take things slowly in our accessible nature exploration group! Accessibility is for everyone and no one is ever left behind!
Remember to provide for your needs with proper dress, shoes, and accessibility aids. Let us know what you need and we can talk through strategies.
