One of the Most Beautiful Christmas Events Around returns by Popular Demand for 2025!The Annual POPLAR HALL CHRISTMAS PARADE OF HORSES & MARKET, (sponsored by the Town of Chesapeake City & Chamber of Commerce) walked through Historic Chesapeake City, MD - one of the most beautiful Victorian towns in the country will be the home of an Equestrian Christmas Wonderland on Sat. Dec 13th (rain date Sun Dec 14th.)
The area is recently known more for the bridge, great seafood and beautiful boats traveling in and through our C&D Canal, but we’re proud to say that it’s one of the most iconic places in the country when it comes to its Equine heritage.
Some of the greatest racehorses in equine race history hail from this town, from the likes of Allaire duPont's “Kelso” (Ranks fourth on the Top 100 Racehorses of 20th Century, and Five Time Consecutive Horse of the Year Winner), “Northern Dancer” (Also an incredible racehorse and one of the most successful sires of the 20th century.) Due to the massive success in racing and equestrian breeding, the area also has an illustrious history in additional horse disciplines that will be represented in the event.
THE DAY BEGINS WITH:
9:00 am to 9:45 am is the HORSE MEET & GREET!
Come say hello to the Parade Riders & their Horses at the CC Elementary school while they're preparing for the parade.
10:00 AM Horse Parade begins, with the singing of our National Anthem by the THE VOICE TV STAR & FINALIST MS. OLIVIA RUBINI!
The event begins with a bagpiper and the parade includes riding teams from: Dressage, Harness, Eventing, Fox Hunting, Carriage Driving, Draft/Work, Pony Clubs and so much more.
CHRISTMAS MARKET BEGINS AT 11:00 AM
The Poplar Hall team will also be transforming Pell Gardens into a unique all handmade, old world style Christmas that differs from anything in the area. Purchase ‘one of a kind’ handcrafted gifts or handcrafted eats from 30+ different artisans for your loved ones, while speaking directly to the one that actually made each piece.
