Did Santa bring you something you don't really want or need?No worries! How about you come swap it for something else!
Esquimalt Community Mutual Aid is hosting a surprise "pop up" gift exchange/shop and swap this coming Saturday. January 3rd from 1130am -1pm.
Too many boxes of sealed chocolates? Maybe you were gifted a tea pot (you already have two!) Maybe clothes that lost their receipts, or stationary that's piling up. Kids that got double Lego sets? Or one too many toys? Maybe you're a crafter and you made one too many bars of soap? Maybe a new set of sheets or even a bottle of something you kinda hate...
Keep things out of the landfill and get something you'll hopefully enjoy in return. 🥰
How it works:
✨️ email us to register OR you can just show up and surprise us - though we appreciate registration because we will be supplying some snacks and hot apple cider.
✨️ bring your new with tags, new without tags or VERY gently used "like new" items.
✨️ YOU MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH WHATEVER YOU BRING BEING POTENTIALLY LOVED AND CHOSEN BY SOMEONE. Bringing an item guarantees you'll get something in return if you WANT, but doesn't guarantee you'll find something you like. Participation means being comfortable with potentially walking away with nothing. Come try your luck! That stuff is just sitting there anyway!
✨️ For each item, you'll be given a corresponding amount of "cards" to be used as currency.
✨️ Exchange for the same amount you bring (bring two items, leave with two items )
✨️Didn't find anything to exchange but still have items left you don't want? You can choose to take your things back (if they haven't been chosen by another attendee) or leave them with us to be donated to a local charity or organization (depending on what it is, things will head to Our Place, Peer2Peer Indigenous Society, The Esquimalt Community Pantry, 1 Up Single parents resource or another cool organization.)
Make sense?
Yes it'll be cold. Dress warm. We will be in a car port/under tents. We have a fire place. Hot cider and snacks!
And, as always, feel free to bring donations for the pantry!
Im bringing new with tags mens pants size L, a new with tags size small mens sweater, sealed chocolates and new with tags socks... what are you bringing?!
See ya there 😉
