The hike starts with a downhill on a rocky singletrack, so good shoes (and trekking poles for beginners) are recommended, then winds through gentle washes filled with sotol, yucca, and other Chihuahuan Desert plants before climbing to a broad ridgeline with sweeping views of west El Paso, New Mexico, and the surrounding desert, especially stunning at sunrise or sunset. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow, with a few short rocky or steeper sections that add just enough challenge to keep it fun without being too technical, making it a scenic and accessible adventure for most families and mixed-ability groups.
