In September 2024 Pop Up Dances, the fan-favourite site-specific dance series will expand to a three-day festival, animating unexpected places across Vancouver Public Library and Granville Island! Find Pop Up Dances Festival on Friday (September 20) for an exciting noon-hour performance and artist talk at the Vancouver Public Library.
Day 1 | Vancouver Public Library, Central Library
Friday, September 20, 12 - 1pm
Day 1 of the festival will feature 2 artists: Kelly McInnes, and Carla Alcántara. Followed by an artist panel conversation on the practice of choreographing for site-specific locations.

This Festival promises to delight audiences of all ages. All presentations are free to attend.

Day 2 & 3:
On Saturday or Sunday (September 21 or 22) join host, performer extraordinaire, Joylyn Secunda will lead audiences on a route of 5 locations at Granville Island, each featuring a site-specific dance performance, with talented artists from diverse backgrounds - from contemporary Indigenous Powwow Dance to street and contemporary dance and more!
The route lasts approximately 60 minutes and audiences are welcome to join us whenever they can along the way. Pop Up Dances is a smorgasbord of creativity that audiences of all ages will enjoy.

Day 2 & 3 of the festival will feature 5 artists: Nyla Bedard, Cristina Bucci, Nasiv Kaur Sall, Punit, Alyssa Favero, and will be hosted by Joylyn Secunda.
Rain or shine, Pop Up Dances happens in a mix of indoor and outdoor public spaces.
