About this Event

As Salaam Alaikum!

It's Black History Month and we at Black Muslims Now (BMN), can't think of a more fitting way to end the month than to honor our incredibly beautiful Islamic heritage by bringing Black Muslims together for an afternoon of community & culture!

Join us this Saturday as we tour The Schomburg Center's pop-up exhibit "BLACK SHINING PRINCE: MALCOLM X AS CULTURAL ICON" together. Insha'Allah, after exploring the exhibit, we'll be getting together for an informal meetup at nearby Harlem Cafe!

Come through and spread the word! We can't wait to see you!

A race of people is like an individual man; until it uses its own talent, takes pride in its own history, expresses its own culture, affirms its own selfhood, it can never fulfill itself.”

— Malcolm X

About the Organizer

Black Muslims Now (BMN)is a collective of passionate NYers with a real love for our people & culture! The organization was formed in response to the uprisings of the summer of 2020, with the aim of serving NYC's Black Muslims in their pursuit of self and community advancement by working to increase visibility and connections for and between Black Muslims in NYC.

BMN celebrates the beauty and brilliance of Black Muslim culture while striving to create solutions around key challenges facing the Black Muslim population in New York City, including Islamophobia as well as structural racism and discrimination from within the Muslim community and society at large.

BMN was founded in the spirit of the great Black Muslim American leaders that have fought for the uplifting of Black people and Black Muslims in NYC, across the USA, and globally. We work to create elevated, dynamic, and strategic social programming, as well as spearheading and collaborating on service projects to benefit Black Muslims across the city.

At BMN, we connect Black Muslims in New York and the surrounding area to Black Muslim charities, Islamic events, local businesses, services, and more in an effort to create connectivity, empowerment, racism-free spaces, and to build a strong and unified Black Muslim NYC community, now and in the future.
