About this Event
Unleash your creativity and discover the dynamic pop of life in your gardens through visual art. Learn to observe and depict California's native plants and wildflowers through a funky, abstract lens. Join artist, Quincy Sutton, in this still-life painting workshop utilizing gestural, minimal pop art techniques.
We'll apply composition, drawing, and color mixing concepts through guided exercises. Students will then have the opportunity to create their own works of art to take home. This painting class is designed for naturalists and artists of all levels.
Whether you're a beginner eager to explore the intersection of pop art and ecology or a seasoned artist seeking inspiration from botanical subjects, go beyond planting and bring nature into our urban landscapes via different mediums.
Weather permitting, we'll take a brief walk through the Theodore Payne Foundation's demonstration gardens for inspiriration before delving into our projects. Please come prepared with warm layers and closed-toe, comfortable shoes.
Materials: All materials will be included. However, participants are welcomed to bring their own supplies if preferrable.
