About this Event
Pony Preschool! Ages 2-6
Children are assigned a pony (or possibly even a donkey!!), and with the help of a parent, they have time to groom, snuggle, and make friends with their pony at the start of class.
The class is run by Miss Christine who holds degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education, with a Masters in Early Childhood. Miss Christine taught for 6 years before taking time off for her now infant, 5, and 7 year old ‘Barn Babies’, who share her love for ponies. Her goal is to incorporate age appropriate learning material into each lesson along with balance and riding exercises.
A parent stays ‘hands on’ with their child. We are in open air and try to keep as much distance as possible. Also, to limit distractions to the kids/ponies we’re asking that students do not bring spectators (just an adult leader or a second adult if anyone feels they’ll need more hands for their child). If your child has special needs or developmental delays, please reach out and let us know ahead so we can be aware and as helpful as possible.
We spend time learning grooming and being comfortable around the ponies followed by in the saddle riding with games. Some of kids are on/off more depending on their attention spans but there’s no expectations for how much they ‘do’ and we can adapt individually. We will accept 2 year olds, but have found that ‘young’ or newly turned 2s often will need to end class early, and that’s okay!
$60/per session. The full session is spent directly with the ponies.
Payment at reservation is needed and is non-refundable. *CLASSES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE* If there are circumstances that prevent you from coming- you are welcome to give or sell your ticket to another child and let us know the name/age. We ask it to be a firm commitment as there are very limited spaces!
Failure to follow any of the following rules will forfeit your participation in the class. These rules are for your safety and the safety of other riders. It is hard for us to have to turn you away because we are excited to share the ponies, but it is YOUR responsibility to be prepared for class.
*We have equestrian helmets to borrow. If you have your own horse helmet, great! Bicycle helmets are not permitted.
*Close toed, athletic shoes are required for the adult (Ponies weigh 200-500lbs and might step on your toes, which can cause serious injuries). Keep in mind, you will be walking approximately 1-3 miles in a class.
*Shoes with a small heel is required for riders. While boots are strongly recommended, a sneaker with a good tread and slight heel will work. Flat/smooth soled shoes on riders are not permitted.
*One dedicated adult per child. Families bringing multiple riders must have one adult per child. Adults must be physically able to walk outside for an hour, up to 3 miles, on uneven terrain and hills.
*No extra children are permitted. No spectators. We need the ponies and kids to focus on the class and spectators create more traffic and distractions. We are happy to take a photo or short video that you can share with your family later.
