Příběh Pom Pom Squad začíná před deseti lety, kdy se projekt zrodil v podhoubí newyorské DIY scény pod taktovkou frontwoman Miy Berrin. Cukrkandlový grunge kapely, která se svou nezaměnitelnou estetikou čerpá z filmů Johna Waterse i Davida Lynche, mistrně kmitá mezi disonantním kytarovým hlukem a popovým přístupem k soudobému písničkářství. „Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle.“
Zásadním milníkem byl pro Berrin a její kapelu rok 2021, kdy u labelu City Slang vyšel dlouhohrající melodramatický debut Death of a Cheerleader. Emocemi nabitá deska odkazuje k punkové vlně riot grrrls, nestraní se ale ani očividným popkulturním referencím. PPS na ni na podzim navázali druhou řadovkou Mirror Starts Moving Without Me, s kterou vyráží na evropské turné. Pražská zastávka má termín 1. června 2025.

The story of Pom Pom Squad began ten years ago when the project emerged from the vibrant underground of New York's DIY scene, initiated by frontwoman Mia Berrin. The band's sugary grunge sound, paired with their unmistakable aesthetic inspired by the films of John Waters and David Lynch, masterfully shifts between dissonant guitar noise and a pop-infused approach to contemporary songwriting. “Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle.”
A major milestone for Berrin and her band came in 2021 with the release of their melodramatic debut album Death of a Cheerleader on City Slang. This emotionally charged, glittery record draws on the punk energy of the riot grrrl movement while also embracing pop culture references. Last fall, PPS followed up with their sophomore album Mirror Starts Moving Without Me which they’re taking on a European tour. Their first headline Prague show is scheduled for June 1, 2025.
