Every Sunday in July at 9amExplore the traditions of Hawaiʻi and Tahiti through cultural dance. This introduction to Hula and ʻOri Tahiti will provide students with an understanding of the basic footwork, motions, and Hawaiian or Tahitian terminology involved in the traditional Polynesian dances. Hula is a low to moderate intensity dance class for those interested in learning the graceful storytelling of the Hawaiian people. ʻOri Tahiti is a moderate to high intensity dance class for those interested in learning Tahitian storytelling through upbeat hip movements.

About your instructor:
Ashley Hanato, born and raised in Kealakekua on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, began dancing at the age of 10 Under Kumu Hula Chrissy Kama Henriques for Hula Halau E Hulali Mai I Ka La out of Honaunau, South Kona, Hawaiʻi. After graduating from the University of Hawaii, she moved to Boise, Idaho in February 2023. She is deeply rooted in her heritage and proudly keeps her culture alive by spreading Aloha and sharing the customs of the Polynesian people through music and dance.
