About this Event
Situated near the West Lothian town of Whitburn, 45 minutes to the west of Edinburgh, Polkemmet Country Park, and particularly the ancient woodlands, are a wildlife haven. Roe deer, fox, heron, water vole, bat and badger all make their home here. The many Oak and Scots Pine trees provide food and shelter for the birds and animals.
On this visit we will be helping to clear the ponds on the site of excess vegetation to ensure open water remains and to preserve a varied pond habitat.
We encourage volunteers to use our minibus for transport. If you live near this task and wish to make your own way you must ring Debbie on 07510959496 to book a space and for joining instructions.
Please bring your lunch and wear appropriate footwear (boots or wellingtons) and waterproof outdoor clothing.
NEW VOLUNTEERS Please only book one task initially. If you do not attend without letting us know, we may cancel any additional task bookings. If you are under 18 you will need to be accompanied by a guardian. Please contact us to discuss arrangements for volunteering with us , or whether other organisations might be more appropriate.
