Politics in the Pub is back for 2025. With the state election in early March, we want to give everyone the opportunity to hear from the candidates at the pub and discuss what matters to Freo and WA.Three candidates* for the state seat of Fremantle have committed to this special event:
- Simone McGurk, Labor
- Kate Hulett, Community Independent
- Felicity Townsend, Greens WA
Our MC is Martin Drum, Professor of Politics at Notre Dame University.
After a short speech from each speaker on what they believe is most important for WA and for Fremantle, you will have the opportunity to respond, ask them questions, and present ideas of your own.
In contrast to the serious business of the Great Debate at Notre Dame on Feb 19 (Google it!), this Politics in the Pub will be an open, convivial and at times cheeky occasion. So come join us at The Local Hotel for the greatest candidate pub test in town!
This event is not RSVP, though there is limited capacity in the beautiful venue. Arrive early if you want a good spot. Stay late if you want to make friends. Do both to guarantee a great night.
*Invitations were sent to all the declared candidates. It's illegal for us to laso unwilling speakers and drag them to our platform, and we're trying to keep Rob Delves out of trouble.
