Boldly (adverb)
- without hesitation or fear in the face of risk or danger; courageously:
- without worrying about the opinion or judgment of others
For the past 3 years, we’ve hosted a faith + work conference called Boldly. But maybe you’ve wondered what the name is about. Or maybe when you read our mission to embolden women in faith and work, you wonder why we chose that word – embolden – above other options like encourage, support, or champion? As with everything we do at Polished, it was intentional.
We know that women face unique challenges in the workplace – and sometimes the simple act of being yourself, especially in your place of work, is an act of boldness.
It takes boldness to show up with confidence, knowing it may be misconstrued as arrogance. It takes boldness to speak up, knowing you may be labeled as too much or not enough. It takes boldness to pursue a dream, knowing you may be seen as careless or unpragmatic. Every day our work – the work we know God is using for the advancement of his kingdom – requires us to be bold.
And when we consider our faith, we find both a reason and a means to be bold.
Our faith compels us to live boldly – for the sake of the gospel.
And our faith propels us to live boldly – with the presence of the Holy Spirit and the knowledge that we are never alone.
This month at Polished, we are focusing on what it means to lead boldly. Because we believe that it’s one of the most powerful things we can embody as Christian working women. We’ll explore how we can be bold even in the face of fear, what it looks like to lead boldly, and what we do when our boldness isn’t well received. Join us for a month of exploring how we can grow in our intention to lead boldly in our faith and work.
