About this Event
Poland in the EU - 20 years on
May 1st, 2024 marked the 20th anniversary of the European Union enlargement, opening the route for Polish migration to Ireland. Today over 125,000 Polish people call Ireland home, making us the largest ethnic minority in Ireland. To mark the occasion Forum Polonia is organising a conference to reflect on the past and the future of this unique relationship between Ireland and the Polish community.
The conference aims to discuss the integration experiences of the Polish community in Ireland in the last 20 years. The Polish diaspora in Ireland is considered a community that blended in. However, under the surface Poles in Ireland experience integration challenges and social marginalisation. The conference will be an opportunity to bring both Polish and Irish perspectives on the challenges and benefits of Polish migration to Ireland.
is a cooperative platform set up in 2008, as a channel for the voice of the Polish people in Ireland. We support the full participation of the Polish community in the life of Irish society on an equal basis. Our vision for the Polish Diaspora in Ireland is a community that is empowered to contribute to civic and political life as well as democratic processes.
