Polish-Americans in the Chicago area will celebrate Polish Constitution Day May 3-5 with a Saturday morning parade in downtown Chicago and other highlights, including a mass in Niles and concert in Lemont Sunday.

The parade, organized by the Alliance of Polish Clubs in the US and Chicago Polish-American organizations, started in 1892 to celebrate the ratification of the Polish Constitution of May 3, 1791, according to a news release from the Lira Singers, which will present a concert of Polish music.

The parade will kick off at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Balbo and Columbus Drives and head north. Following that, the Chicago Chopin Foundation will provide a free concert in Grant Park at 11th St. and Michigan Ave. at 2 p.m.

On Sunday, a Holy Mass/Prayer for Peace will take place at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N. Harlem Ave., Niles.

The Lira Ensemble will present a concert of Polish music Sunday at 5 p.m. at SS. Cyril and Methodius Parish, 608 Sobieski St., Lemont. Tickets, available at liraensemble.org, are $30 for adults, free for college students (with IDs), children and teens.
