Chris and Ross invite you to attend a Police charity Rugby match on 9th November. Funds raised will be going towards Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB). Please read on to learn more about SOGB and LETR.
There will be a bake sale, auction and a raffle with some fantastic prizes lined up. Raffle tickets will be on sale prior to the event so be sure to get in touch with Chris or Ross to be in with a chance of winning.
This promises to be a great family day, with a rugby derby, emergency service vehicles, family games, a visit from the Police Helicopter, whilst raising as much money as possible to donate to Special Olympics to help them continue their life changing work.
LETR - Scotland are the Scottish based division of the largest charitable public awareness vehicle and grassroots fundraising organisation for Special Olympics globally called Law Enforcement Torch Run. Known as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the ‘Flame of Hope’ into the Opening Ceremony of local competitions and into events such as the World Games (similar to Olympic Games). We are passionate and dedicated law enforcement members and carry the ‘Flame of Hope’ which symbolises courage and celebration of diversity, uniting communities around the world.
Special Olympics Great Britain is a non-profit organisation and largest provider of year-round sports training and athletic competition in summer and winter sports for children and adults of ALL abilities with intellectual disabilities also known as learning disabilities.
As members of LETR - Scotland, Chris Hemm and Ross Christie, have been offered the privilege of being selected to take part in the Final Leg in the lead up the Winter World Games in Torino, Italy between 1st - 11th March 2025.
This will mean that Chris and Ross, both of whom are serving Police Scotland Officers, will be in teams of law enforcement members comprised of officers from across the world partaking in a relay run, working closely with selected Special Olympics athletes, carrying the Flame of Hope from Athens to light the flame in Castello del Valentino, Turin to start the 2025 Special Olympics World Games. This is similar to the lead up to lighting the Olympic and Commonwealth flames.
We hope to see you at what will be a fantastic family day for a great cause. Please bring cash on the day.
