Round 1 begins at 6:30P.M.
Rounds will be played close to what our League look like: best of one matches but with 40 minute rounds. We will follow the listed Gym Leader Rules. This will be the first event in this format, which will potentially run weekly on Friday nights based on participation.
GLC (Gym Leader Challenge), is a format created by Andrew Mahone, a highly respected Pokémon player and content creator. The format was formed during the COVID-19 pandemic as an alternative way to enjoy the card game and is now the most popular side format for the Pokémon TCG. It is officially supported at all Pokémon Play! Regionals, Championships, and more as a side event and pretty much every major Pokémon event.
GLC is designed to be similar to how Gym Leaders in the Pokémon video games work as a singleton monotype deck.
Only one of each card in a deck (except basic energy)
No Rule Box Cards (Radiant’s, Prisms, ACE SPECs, etc.)
Only One Type Per Deck (Eevee cannot be played in a Dark Deck)
Cards that are Banned are not playable (list below)
Card pool of B&W Base to Current Set
6 Prize Format, 60 Card Deck, Exactly Like Standard

BANNED CARDS: Lysandre’s Trump Card, Oranguru (SM-Ultra Prism 114/156), Forest of Giant Plants, Chip-Chip Ice Axe, Hiker, Kyogre (Shining Fates 021/072), Pokemon Research Lab
Cards are legal in GLC the day the set officially releases in the region. Non-English Cards are allowed, but must be able to be translated. Cards gained through a pre-release event cannot be used until the set is officially released. This can be discussed if a release is on the same day as an event or if players want to use cards obtained during prerelease to test new strategies.
Proxies
As previously stated, GLC is a format with a card pool from Black & White base set to the most currently printed set. It is insane to expect anyone to be able to find cards from over 10 years ago in playable condition or have a card for the most recent set release within a week. However since most cards for the format are relatively cheap, completing a deck by looking through your own bulk or a local store shouldn’t be difficult. However, there is going to still be ground rules to encourage completing decks for the format:

A deck can only have 10 proxies at a time, this is negotiable depending on the situation of the player or circumstances surrounding the cost of certain cards.
Proxies must be fully legible, and an accurate representation of a card. They do not need to be in color, but are encouraged to be
Proxies must be made well and should not stick out the top of card sleeves, sleeves should not be transparent to avoid knowledge of a proxied card being in hands or deck
