Two awesomely gifted poets—Toby Altman, Director of the RCAH Center of Poetry at MSU, and Laura Apol, the 2019-2021 Lansing- area poet laureate, will be featured at the Copper Chimney Lounge Poetry Series on Sunday, Jan. 18, 4-6 PM. The event will take place at the University United Methodist Church (UUMC), 1120 S. Harrison Rd., East Lansing — just across the street from MSU & directly north of the Trowbridge Shopping Center. Free parking is available behind the church.
Attendees are invited to share a poem in the Open Mic, which will take place in the 2nd set. Those wishing to share a poem (3-5 min.) should throw their names into the basket at the Gate Table.
Toby Altman is the author of Jewel Box (Essay Press, 2026), Discipline Park (Wendy’s Subway, 2023), and Arcadia, Indiana (Plays Inverse, 2017). He has held fellowships from the Graham

She is an associate professor at Michigan State, and from 2019-2021, she served as the Lansing-area poet laureate.
