
About this Event
Michael’s workshop will look at examples of dramatic and fictional voices in poetry and discuss approaches to creating sequences.
Participants will be invited to undertake writing exercises designed to help create character, voice and verse.
Note: Workshops require a minimum of 8 for us to run. We will confirm to all participants as early as possible once confirmed numbers are reached.
Michael Crowley was born and raised north of London, south of Watford. He went to university in Manchester and never returned home. He is the author of two novels, a novella, two collections of poetry, a history of the Community Party of Great Britian, a criminology textbook and numerous plays. He has worked extensively in youth theatre and has written drama for BBC Radio and Sky Arts. Michael was writer in residence at a young offender’s institution for six years through the Writers in Pr*son Network. His poetry, published by Smokestack Books, includes First Fleet and The Battle of Heptomstall. The first sequence of both collections is written as dramatic verse in the voices of fictional and historical characters.
