Join us for Poetry with Claire Crowther and Carrie Etter on Saurday 2 November 2-4pm at Drawing Projects UK.
Please join us for a wonderful afternoon of all things poetry as we welcome two outstanding writers to read from their work and talk about their creative lives, including recent collaborations. Everyone (16+) welcome.
Claire Crowther has published five pamphlets and six collections. Stretch of Closures was shortlisted for the Aldeburgh Best First Collection and Solar Cruise was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. Her poems and reviews have appeared in London Review of Books, Times Literary Supplement, Poetry Review, PN Review, London Magazine, Poetry London and others. She has read at numerous festivals and reading series including Stanza, Lancaster and Aldeburgh. She has an MPhil and PhD in Creative Writing and teaches poetry at Oxford University Department of Continuing Education. She is Deputy /Reviews Editor of Long Poem Magazine. Real Lear: New and Selected Poems and Sense and Nonsense: Essays and Interviews, were launched this October 2024. Her work is included in the Poetry Archive.
Carrie Etter has published five collections of poetry, most recently Grief's Alphabet (Seren, April 2024), and edited three works, most recently Claire Crowther: Sense and Nonsense: Essays and Interviews (Shearsman, October 2024). Her poetry, essays, and criticism are widely published in the UK and US and her poetry has been shortlisted for major awards, including the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry. After 18 years teaching at Bath Spa University, in 2022 she joined the creative writing faculty at the University of Bristol.
The Trowbridge Stanza was set up by Josephine Corcoran in 2016, and is a Poetry Society Stanza that meets every first Saturday at Drawing Projects UK in Trowbridge. Poetry Society Stanzas are poetry groups run voluntarily by members of the Poetry Society. Although several of the group (including Josephine) belong to the Poetry Society, there is no obligation for anyone to join. Everyone is welcome to this friendly, inclusive group, a mixture of published and unpublished poets, with an age range of 16+ to 80+, we travel to Drawing Projects UK (next to Trowbridge train station) from all over the South West region.
