Join us for a unique and playful evening of literary analysis! For this special "Poetry Talks," we'll be turning our attention to the unsung poetry of our time: pop song lyrics.Inspired by Daniel Lamken's idea that "Taylor Swift is the new Lord Byron," we'll explore the hidden depths and unintended meanings in the songs we know and love. We can be quite open with our interpretations, so whether it’s a Bob Dylan classic or something more unexpected, all lyrics are on the table.
Simply mark yourself as "Going" to the event.
Once you’ve marked yourself as going, submit a song that you want to be analysed in the event page. On Sunday, 7th September, we will collectively analyse the pop song together, like we would annotate a poem.
We don’t mind if it’s a song you think is deeply poetic or a total earworm—we’ll have fun analysing why it gets stuck in our heads.
