Union Ave Books is excited to present Amber Albritton, Bess Cooley, and Raye Hendrix for an evening of poetry! This event will take place on Friday, November 15th at 6pm at our bookstore. This is a free event. Please RSVP via the ticket link so that we know to expect you!Amber Albritton lives with her family and dog in Knoxville, TN. Though she grew up traveling extensively in a military family, East Tennessee is her land and these are her people. She teaches for the English Department at the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville, where she is currently working on two more books. The Indignity of Knowing is her debut poetry collection.
Bess Cooley is the author of a poetry collection, Florence (Sundress Publications). She is a winner of the Mississippi Review Poetry Prize and her work has also appeared in Prairie Schooner, Western Humanities Review, American Literary Review, The Journal, and Verse Daily, among other journals. She is co-founding editor of Peatsmoke Journal and teaches at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Raye Hendrix is the author of the poetry collection, What Good Is Heaven, which was selected to represent Alabama in the Southern Poetry Breakthrough Series from Texas Review Press. and two poetry chapbooks. Her poems appear in American Poetry Review, Poetry Northwest, 32 Poems, and elsewhere. The winner of the 2019 Keene Prize for Literature and the 2018 Patricia Aakhus Award (Southern Indiana Review), they have also received fellowships from Bread Loaf, the Oregon Humanities Center, and the Juniper Writing Institute. Raye holds a BA and MA from Auburn University, an MFA from the University of Texas at Austin, and a PhD from the University of Oregon. She teaches in the English Department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
