FEB 10 POETRY HICKORY TO FEATURE AWARD WINNING REGIONAL POETThis month's Poetry Hickory, the 230th monthly reading in the 19-year-old series, will feature Gastonia's award-winning poet, David E. Poston.
Poston's previous poetry collections include "Postmodern Bourgeois Poetaster Blues," which won the NC Writers’ Network’s Randall Jarrell Chapbook Competition. He has also won awards from the Writers' Workshop of Asheville, Charlotte Writers Club, and Southeastern Writers' Association.
Poston's poetry, fiction, and reviews have appeared in journals and anthologies such as "Atlanta Review," "Flying South," "Cider Press Review," "North Carolina Literary Review," "Pembroke," "Pedestal," and "The Southern Poetry Anthology, Vol. VII."
Poston is a former "Kakalak" editor, North Carolina Poetry Society board member, and Pushcart Prize nominee. His fourth poetry collection, "Letting Go," is coming soon from Fernwood Press.
Poston's reading will begin at 6:15 at Taste Full Beans Coffeehouse in downtown Hickory and will be followed by an Open Mic.
