You can book by calling us on 01629 823272 or by popping into the shop to reserve your spot.A Full-On Basso Profundo questions and explores masculinity, family and America by way of personal, life-changing moments such as kidney donation, the loss of a stillborn child, and an elegy for an alcoholic friend, but also touch on global issues of gender,
identity, memory and belonging. Ken’s latest collection from Salt may be full on but is also witty and engaging in the darkness.
As Luke Kennard writes, ‘He writes the family with an unrivalled,
gimlet-eyed affection, a wicked sense of humour and a deeper sense of compassion. In his new collection time seems to pass in two directions, through vivid memory and an inexplicable future, quantumly entangled. What we have, what we have always had, is each other, and all the complications that entails.’
Ken’s ‘To An Occupier Burning Holes’ collection appeared in 2022. Orbis magazine review - ‘It disturbs, delights and moves the reader, often all at once.’ His next, ‘A Full On Basso Profundo’, is available in February 2025 (both Salt). In 2024, Ken was a winner in ‘On the Move’, poems on buses, and also in the Derby Poetry Festival competition. Ken was a contributor to Broken Sleep’s ‘Masculinity’ anthology 2024. He was also a runner-up in the AUB competition. His most recent reading was at the Kent & Sussex Poetry Society, and he was their competition winner in 2018.
Adrian Buckner was Poet Laureate for Nottinghamshire from 1999-2001 and has collections and pamphlets from Five Leaves and Leafe Presses - the latest being SeeSaw from Leafe. Most recently published in The Spectator and Cyphers, he is currently interested in the possibilities of a pure lyricism.
