Join the Ohio Center for the Book at Cleveland Public Library for readings from two local poets, Clarissa Jakobsons and Charles Malone, followed by an open mic.About the readers:
Clarissa Jakobsons instructed numerous art and writing courses at Cuyahoga Community College and often weaves one-of-a-kind artist books exhibited internationally, including the Cleveland Museum of Art Ingalls Library. Sometimes she combines artist books with her poems and paintings. Sample publications include: Sheila-Na-Gig, Glint, Hawaii Pacific Review, The Lake, Ruminate, Tower Magazine, Qarrtsiluni, etc. Twice featured at the Shakespeare & Co. Bookstore in Paris, she enjoyed residencies at the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center. Her current poetry book, Baltic Amber in a Chest combines World War II memories. She writes, “Don’t be surprised to see my inner artist kicking sandcastles, climbing Mount Diablo, painting Provincetown dunes, or igniting Tai Chi poems under an Ohio crescent moon."
Charles Malone works with writers in the community around Kent, OH through the Wick Poetry Center. He is the author of three collections of poetry, After an Eclipse of Moths (Moonstone Arts), Questions About Circulation (Driftwood Press), and Working Hypothesis (Finishing Line Press). He edited the anthology "A Poetic Inventory of Rocky Mountain National Park" with Wolverine Farm Publishing and a new anthology for Cuyahoga Valley National Park forthcoming with Kent State University Press. He has work recently published or forthcoming in Cagibi, Dark Mountain: Abyss, Hotel Amerika, The Best of Boneshaker: A Bicycling Almanac, The Sugar House Review, The Dunes Review, and Saltfront.
