Join us for a powerful evening of poetic reflection, wisdom, and community connection at Poet’s Corner, Scarritt Bennett Center’s monthly poetry reading series. This November, we are honored to welcome featured poet Anjetta (Anjie) Williams-Brown—a dynamic voice in Nashville’s literary and academic circles.
A lifelong leader and storyteller, Anjie Williams-Brown recently retired from Tennessee State University after 22 years of service as Business Coordinator. She was the first African American woman in Tennessee to earn the prestigious Educational Facilities Professional certification and has served in leadership roles across multiple civic, educational, and poetry organizations.
A graduate of both the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Tennessee State University, Anjie is an advocate for empowerment through education, communication, and creative expression. Her debut poetry collection, Pieces of Anjie: Poetry from My Soul, was self-published in December 2022 and marks the beginning of her journey to share more inspirational writing through various mediums.
🌟 Open Mic Sign-Up Optional – Arrive early if you’d like to share your work.
☕ Light Refreshments Provided
📌 Admission is free, and all are welcome – Whether you're a seasoned poet or new to the art, Poet’s Corner is a space to be inspired, reflect, and connect.
