MEET YOUR MENTORS:
Kirk Hastings
Kirk stands at the intersection of creativity and technology, seamlessly integrating music, education, and esports into enriching community initiatives. With a decade of teaching experience across primary, secondary, and higher education, he is adept at guiding both children and adults in honing their creative musical skills. His leadership in leading 6 choirs for the UK's largest contemporary choir company and conducting musical theatre workshops at the University of Warwick highlights his dynamic approach to education. As Programme Manager at the University of Warwick, Kirk develops educational programmes that bridge creative technology and esports, directly benefiting local communities and schools. At the academy, he will share his vast expertise in audio, video, and podcast production, leveraging his extensive background to foster interest and skills in these vibrant fields.
Ian Todd
Ian brings over 15 years of music industry experience to the Blunt & Brave Digital Academy, showcasing a career that includes performances with UK-based bands and a notable solo career. He is also the mastermind behind Turtle Leaf Studios. Alongside his music career, Ian has over five years of educational experience, holding a PGCE PCET with a specialism in the arts. Ian's teaching is deeply shaped by his personal journey with disability and his experience teaching students with special educational needs (SEN). This allows him to craft empowering and accessible learning environments with tailored teaching strategies. As a mentor for audio production and podcasting at the academy, Ian combines his industry expertise with innovative teaching methods, guiding students through the complexities of audio engineering and empowering them to explore the transformative power of sound in a supportive environment.
