Drama workshops for fun and creative skill building.Release your creative spark with this series of drama workshops designed for enjoyment and to develop your performance confidence and skills. Each 2 hour session will explore different aspects of acting – from building a character, developing your voice, to group interactions and improvisation – all in a sociable and enjoyable way.
The first workshops will be held from 7-9pm at Pocklington Arts Centre on the following Friday evenings: 6 & 13 February and 13, 20 & 27 March.
Following these initial sessions, it is intended that the workshops will develop into a permanent group.
The sessions are for adults aged 18+ and open to everyone regardless of ability or experience. The workshops are suitable for absolute beginners and seasoned performers alike.
The cost per person for each workshop is £10, payable in advance and we encourage participants to attend all 5 sessions to get the most out of the experience and to help create a strong group dynamic.
The drama sessions will be led by theatre director and writer Rupert Creed. Rupert has over 40 years professional experience working with both community and professional actors. He has directed large-cast community plays in Hull, Howden, Bridlington and for Dorchester in Dorset. He has worked as a BBC Producer, and was the writer of ‘Made in Hull’- the opening event for Hull City of Culture 2017. He has written and presented for BBC Radio 4, and is the and co-writer and director of the award winning ‘Turn and Face the Strange’ that celebrates the music and life of Hull-born guitarist Mick Ronson.
