Pacific Northwest College of Art is excited to welcome visiting artist Kristina Batiste for a visiting artist lecture on her work and art practice on April 10th at 6pm
Kristina Batiste is a west coast ceramic artist making minimalist conceptual art and functional pottery.
Kristina became an artist later in life; prior to ceramics she worked as a writer and editor, graphic designer, and in higher education, and is currently a part-time librarian. The through line of her career has been a focus on distilling complex ideas into accessible, memorable forms.
Kristina was the 2025 Mudge Fellow at the Groton School, the 2023 recipient of The Current Artist Award presented by the Tacoma Art Museum, and guest artist at the Northern Clay Center's 2023 American Pottery Festival in Minneapolis. She was the subject of a feature article in American Craft, is one of the artists in “Black American Ceramic Artists” (Schiffer 2022), and was a subject in Hulu’s "Your Attention Please" documentary series. Kristina has been written about in Ceramics Monthly, the Seattle Times, the Strategist, and the Craft Industry Alliance, has authored multiple articles in Studio Potter, and is the co-founder of the Tacoma Pottery Salon.
