Phase Testing is a test that students will go through when advancing from beginner ranks to intermediate, intermediate to advanced, and advanced to black belt. This will be an extra test held on a non-class day prior to graduation month. The test will be more difficult as the requirements to pass change per phase and students will be held to a high standard each time.
Belts required to test before Graduation:
- ORANGE BELTS
- GREEN BELTS
Please Ensure all students testing bring:
- Full Uniform
- All Black Belt Training Weapons
- Running Shoes/Outer wear in case of chilly weather
Required Skills are included in the attached images. All applicable weapon techniques will also be tested.
Mental Requirements
– Dedication: Attending class twice per week and practicing at home 15 minutes two other days per week.
– Confidence: Showing a positive self-attitude and belief in oneself.
– Respect: Showing respect for others and themselves.
– Discipline: Showcasing discipline by being able to take directions and commands.
Physical Requirements
– Understand the physical application of the required curriculum at the beginning of phase testing.
– Begin to show signs of increased strength and flexibility.
– They must be able to properly execute the basic techniques of the training with Power Speed Focus Accuracy Intensity and Excellence.
They must understand and execute the four elements of power in their basic technique:
- Body Alignment: ie. Lining up their vision, shoulders, hip, and heel of their foot when executing their sidekick.
- Rotation: ie. Pivoting their shoulders, hips, and supporting foot when executing a rear leg or arm attack.
- Back-Up Mass: ie. Putting their whole body into their technique.
- Speed: Moving with urgency and timing.
